Australian star Anja Nissen will fly the Danish flag in Kiev

Anja Nissen has won the final of DMGP 2017 and will represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev. The winning song in the national final in Denmark is ‘Where I Am‘.

Denmark changed their game plan this year, not allowing any boybands in the national final this time. The last couple of years, Denmark failed to qualify for the final of Eurovision with a boyband.

Australian Anja Nissen also took part in DMGP 2016, where she got to settle with a second place. Now she got the trophy and will go to Eurovision after all. She won the superfinal with the amazing amount of 64% of the votes. Ida Una scored 26% of the votes with her song “One”. Johanna Beijbom surprisingly came third with 10% of the votes for her song “A.S.A.P.”. Seven other acts lost out to Anja in the first round.

In 2008, Nissen reached the semi-finals of Season 2 of popular talent-search TV show, Australia’s Got Talent, aged 12. Since then she appeared on a number of TV shows, including Young Talent Time, Mornings with Kerri-Anne and the annual Schools Spectacular. Afterwards she was asked by SBS Australia to go to Eurovision in 2015. In the end, SBS chose for Guy Sebastian instead. Afterwards Anja tried her luck in Denmark (the country her parents are from).
