Australia: Isaiah Firebrace releases new single ‘Streets of Gold’

Australia’s 2017 Eurovision contestant, Isaiah Firebrace, has released a new single, titled ‘Streets of Gold’. Within a day of its release, it has gained over 15,000 views on YouTube.

The sentimental ballad focuses on the notion of love, a theme also found in Isaiah’s other single ‘It’s Gotta Be You’ and, of course, his Eurovision entry ‘Don’t Come Easy’.

After the success of these songs (‘It’s Gotta Be You’ reached #1 on the Australian iTunes chart and recorded over 50 million streams worldwide and ‘Don’t Come Easy’ placed 9th in the 2017 Grand Final), his new single is likely to reach, or exceed, these figures, particularly with newfound support and popularity around Europe.

The song is available to download and listen on Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify and YouTube. A music video will be released for ‘Streets of Gold’ in the near future.

Eurovision 2017

Isaiah continued Australia’s run of success in the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing in 9th place, accumulating 171 points. This was the third top ten finish in as many years for the country.

His journey from the small New South Wales town of Moama to winning the 2016 edition of X-Factor Australia and finally to the Eurovision stage was rapid (and we’re not seeing any signs of him slowing down).

Eurovision 2018

The focus of the Australian delegations now shifts to the 2018 edition of the song contest, which will be held in Lisbon. There is yet to be confirmation of Australia’s participation in May next year, but after leaving only positive impressions since their debut in 2015, it is expected they’ll compete again…

If Australia does confirm their participation for the contest in 2018 in Lisbon, questions are likely to be asked about the selection process. After Paul Clarke exclusively told ESC Daily about plans to host a national final in Australia, we might see a change from the internal selection process that SBS has used since Australia’s inclusion.
