According to Ismayil Omarov, director of 2012 host broadcaster İctimai TV, the official venue announcement for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest will be made in January 2012.

Omarov commented “we do not have any problems with the choice of the venue and consider different options, but the final decision will be taken by the steering committee”. “I think that Baku will host an unforgettable show. European and world community demonstrates a great interest to Azerbaijan and I think that Eurovision 2012 in Baku will see many guests”, Omarov added.

Currently the Baku Crystal Hall is being constructed with a capacity and design to fit the requirements for the Eurovision Song Contest. Azerbaijan will host the semifinals on the 22nd and 24th of May plus the Grand Final on the 26th of May, 2012.
