Bosnia-Herzegovina: Application for Stockholm withdrawn

Bosnia and Herzegovina has once again withdrawn their preliminary application to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest. After having missed out in the contests of 2013, 2014 and 2015, the Bosnian broadcaster BHRT has announced this Friday that the country will not compete at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

There is a very small chance Bosnia-Herzegovina will be there after all, in May next year. After negotiations with the EBU, they got the chance to reapply for participation by the end of October. But to do so, BHRT needs to find a sponsor and the required funds for participation.

This is however the same situation as in the last few years, when BHRT could not find the money to take part. Bosnia-Herzegovina withdrew from the contest for financial reasons, right after Baku 2012. They applied to participate in the contest the next four years, but decided to opt out of the competition in the last moment because of a lack of funds and sponsors.
