Bosnia & Herzegovina: BHRT internally selects Maya Sar

BHRT, Public Broadcaster for Bosnia & Herzegovina, has just announced that upcoming singer Maya Sar has been internally selected to represent the country at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest!

BHRT also announced that Maya will be performing her own composition at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, which is scheduled to be released at the beginning of 2012 on BHT 1 and BH Radio 1.

The following announcement was made by BHRT concerning their selection of Maya:

“The Public Broadcaster of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT), an active member of the EBU decided, based on the Rules of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, to hire an artist that achieved significant results and success with it’s songwriter skills, wonderful voice and distinctive musical style, in Bosnia and Herzegovina aswell in the regional music scene”.

Maja Sarihodžić was born in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and performs under her stage name MayaSar. She has been a backing vocalist for several famous singers including Dino Merlin and Tony Cetinski. Maja released her first single in March 2010 entitled “Nespretno” (EN: Awkwardly) which was popular not only in Bosnia & Herzegovina, but in several Balkan countries. This will be Maja’s third time on the Eurovision Song Contest stage, as she has been a backing vocalist for Bosnia and Herzegovina on two occasions; in 2004 and 2011.

Maya was also behind the composition of the charity single “Moj je zivot moja pjesma”, which features Maya singing with Karolina Goceva (FYR Macedonia 2002 & 2007), Nina Badric and Aleksandra Radovic.
