Reference Group: “EBU will ensure Russia’s participation”

“The EBU will ensure that Russia can participate in the Eurovision Song Contest”. This says Eurovision Reference Group chairman Frank-Dieter Freiling in an interview with Der Tagesspiegel. “We have made it very clear to Ukraine that we expect all participants to be able to compete.”

Russia: EBU offers participation through satellite connection

Russia might still take part in the Eurovision Song Contest, even though their chosen artist Julia Samoylova was refused entry to host country Ukraine. The EBU has offered the solution that Russia will take part through a satellite connection during the second semi final.

Eurovision 2017: Russia not allowed to take part in Kiev

Several news outlets report that Ukraine will ban the Russian participant in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, Julia Samoylova, from travelling to Ukraine. Julia was due to represent Russia with the song ‘Flame Is Burning’.

Australia: Melbourne organizes preview party cruise after Sydney sells out

The Australian Eurovision club (ESCFAN) and radio station Joy 94.9 are jointly hosting a Eurovision cruise after a similar event in Sydney sells out. The demand for the preview party in Sydney was so high, that ESCFan decided to organize a second one on a boat in Melbourne.

Eurovision 2017: All venues confirmed, Ukraine performs on slot 22

Apart from the location where the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 will be held, the International Exhibition Centre, all other venues have been confirmed as well. This happened at the Head of Delegation meeting Kiev, where host nation Ukraine was drawn into starting slot 22.
