Czech Republic: Success in Stockholm leads to another participation

Czech Republic will once again participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. The Czechs, who had been absent for a long time until 2015, reached their first Eurovision final in Stockholm this year and want to build on this success.

Broadcaster Česká Televize will select their entry internally once again. It will start a song search which is open for authors and composers from all around the world, and will add a Czech artist to the composition at a later stage.

“Find a song that matches the current world trends and qualities and also stand the intense competition on the ESC, it is very difficult,” says Jan Potměšil, creative producer in charge of the project. Head of Delegation Jan Bors adds: “Our priority is to constantly improve the quality, both in the selection contest song and the artist, and in the presentation at the event itself.”

Last year, Gabriela Gunčíková reached the Eurovision Final for the first time in the country’s history with the song “I Stand”. Her performance has caused a change in the way people look at the Eurovision Song Contest, Bors told ESC Daily in Stockholm last year:
