Daily Coffee: “Bulgaria slight favorite in very close contest”

After the dress rehearsal last night, Bulgaria is in pole position to win the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Thus concludes Chief Editor Steef van Gorkum in this morning’s episode of Daily Coffee. Poland and Italy are close followers. “But it is very very close this year.”

Van Gorkum is positive about the changes made to the Junior format. “The EBU has done well, the current format seems right. Broadcasters are happy with it. Still it remains to be seen whether more countries will come to the contest. Budgetary issues will always remain. Also, since the EBU does not want semies at Junior, it is the question whether the contest can take many more countries.”

Van Gorkum will travel home today, but that does not mean that ESC Daily will remain empty for the day. “You can read back the blog from last night’s rehearsal, on which the juries voted. And if you have a prediction of your own, try our prediction contest! Also the interview with Jon Ola Sand comes out later today, and my colleague Ani Shahoyan will write an extensive report about the final later today.”
