Daily Coffee: “Everybody is keen for Australian final, but timing is essential”

In our Sunday morning episode of Daily Coffee we are being joined in our podcast by ESC Inisght’s Ewan Spence. He tells us his thoughts on the day to come and the Australian plans for a national final.

“Look, everybody is keen for such an show, but it takes time and the timing is essential,” Ewan tells. “It does not necessarily have to happen next year.”

In looking forward to today’s rehearsal day, Ewan Spence hopes that France will improve its staging. “There need to be dancers on stage. France has the most potential to improve its result through better performance.” Steef van Gorkum adds that the current staging is very similar to Amir’s staging from last year. “It seems as though the new Head of Delegation has a clear plan about what Eurovision needs to be.”

Expectations are that Australia will get a permanent status at Eurovision, but this has not been formalised yet. Ewan would not mind that to happen. “The idea of Eurovision to share cultures can go beyond the borders of Europe. Australia has paid its dues for over 30 days, it is not like Bangladesh has been brought in.”
