Hungary: Brand new selection method in 2012!

The Hungarian national broadcaster MTV has just announced that there will be a brand new selection method in 2012 to select the Hungarian entry to the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest!

During the press conference, MTV announced the will host two semi-finals and a final in order to select the Hungarian entry for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Baku. A song call has been opened by MTV for local and foreign composers which will end on December 20th, 2011. The two semi-finals will be broadcast live on M1 with a total of four songs qualifying per semifinal to the final. The songs will be decided by a jury and televoting split in each semi-final.

Deputy Director General for Content Production at MTVA, Ferenc L. Gazsó stated: “We are proud of taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest, next year for the 12th time. With Kati Wolf’s participation in 2011 we could show that after the integration of the Hungarian public service media the song contest and its message reached a larger audience than ever before.”

Attending the press conference was Kati Wolf (2011) plus one of the favourites to participate in 2012, Gabi Tóth.
