Junior Eurovision: Tbilisi’s Sports Palace hosts JESC on 26th of November

The 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take place on Sunday 26th November. The competition will be held in Tbilisi’s Sports Palace, located in the heart of the capital city.

European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the Georgian Public Broadcaster, GPB, have confirmed this on Thursday.

Popular for both sporting and live events the Sports Palace will be home to this year’s Contest. While it was traditionally a sporting arena, the Sports Palace underwent renovation in 2007 to become a leading venue in the city of Tbilisi. It is now a home for both national and international events such as concerts, shows and exhibitions.

Mariam Mamadashvili

11 year old Mariam Mamadashvili triumphed for Georgia in November last year in Valletta, with her powerful performance of Mzeo. Earlier this year, the EBU and GPB revealed that as last year’s winners GPB had first option to host the 2017 competition, and they have agreed.

Georgia has won Junior Eurovision a record three times. However this is the first time that the event will actually be held in the country. This year marks the 15th edition of the song Contest.

Further details regarding tickets, presenters and interval acts will be announced later this year.
