Good Evening Europe! Welcome to this year’ “A Dal”, Hungarian Eurovision Selection! Live from Budapest, ESCDaily reports the first semi-final. Tonight there are going to perform 10 songs where 4 will be qualifying to the final, three by the jury and one by televoting. Hungarian broadcaster MTV is taking this year’s selection very seriously. Don’t forget to tweet us @escdaily so we can view your opinions on tonight’s show.
1. Attila Kökény and Tamara Bencsik - “Állítsd Meg Az Időt!”
The first song to open tonight’s show is Állítsd Meg Az Időt! by the old-fashioned jazz duo Attila Kökény and Tamara Bencsik. The song is a very catchy pop song with jazz elements. The duo’s vocals are great! They are also getting good critics from the jury. All the juries give the duo 6 points in a total of 24 points. Not bad!
2. András Kállay-Saunders - “I Love You”
The second act tonight is András Kállay-Saunders with I love You. András’ voice sounds pretty good. The song is a great mastered pop/r&b song. The jury’s comments are quiet good. All four of the juries give Andras’ “I Love You” 8 points making a total of 32 points! He has certainly more points than the first entry.
3. Barna Pély with Eszter Pál and Szalonna - “Hangok A Szívekért”
Alright everyone. The third act on stage is a group made of Pély Barna, Pál Eszter and Szalonna with Hangok A Szívekért. The song contains Hungarian folk elements mixed with pop/rock music. Szalonna’s voice is stunning. The song receives 6 points from the first judge, Kati gives 7 points, the other judge gives 9 while Philip gives 7 points, making a total of 34 points.
4. Annamari Dancs – “Feel”
Now it’s time for the Romanian born Annamari Dancs with “Feel”. Even though the song title is in English, most of the verses are in Hungarian. It has pop elements with operatic chorus at the end. Reminds me of Slovenia 2007 .. it’s almost the same. The judges don’t rate the song really high, the judges gave the song 15 points. Certainly expected… it’s the least voted tonight.
5. Gábor Heincz – “Learning to let go”
The fifth act tonight is Gábor Heincz with Learning to Let Go. The song is very very cute, in my opinion the best so far! It’s like Bruno Mars’ style or like last year’s Finnish entry. And .. the jury gives the song 38 points .. expected!!
Now, we go to the Green Room.. The artists are certainly very happy and excited!
6. Compact Disco – “Sound of our hearts”
Now it’s time for Compact Disco and their “Sound of our hearts”. The song sounds good, it has electronic rock elements.. I like it! It’s catchy. The jury basically loves the song, three of them give the song 10 points (the highest rate) and the other 9 making a total of 39 points taking a clear lead .. totally to the final!
7. Rudi Krisz – “A fél veled egész“
It’s Krisz’s time. He is presenting himself tonight with “A fél veled egész”. It’s a good pop/rock ballad. Even though, the song doesn’t get rated very high. The jury awards the song a total of 18 points, he is 6th by the jury so far (out of 7).
8. Niki Gallusz and Márton Vizy - ”Eyurope, Our Heart Is One”
It’s time for another duo, Niki Gallusz and Márton Vizy with “Europe, Our Heart is One”. A cool pop ballad. There is a technical problem during the song .. the first verse couldn’t be performer .. or heard (not sure), the instrumental is killing the vocals, you can barely listen to them .. but anyway the duo is re-performing. Let’s see what our jury thinks… Okay, good opinions.. the song receives a total of 31 points ranking 4th by the jury.
The results so far.
39 “Sound Of Our Hearts”
38 ”Learning To Let Go”
32 ”I Love You”
31 ”Europe, Our Heart Is One”
29 ”Hangok A Szívekért”
24 ”Állítsd Meg Az Időt!”
18 ”A Fél Veled Egész”
15 ”Feel”
9. Gabi Tóth - “Nem Kell Végszó”
The ninth song tonight is “Nem Kell Végszó” by Gabi Tóth. I like the song..it’s catchy. She’s wearing a short tide red dress .. cute! Anyway, let’s see what jury things (positive opinions I hope).. Ah the song receives a total of 34 points.. very good. She is ranked third by jury … If the tenth song doesn’t get rated higher than Gabi, she’s through!
10. Caramel - ”Vízió”
Okay Europe! It’s the last song tonight .. Vízió performed by Caramel. I personally love the song, it has RnB/Rock elements. The band performs the song absolutely amazing! The backing vocals are a bit high but they’re doing a good job! The lead singer certainly rocks the song! The last chorus is simply amazing! I don’t know what will the jury’s opinion be but I love the song! Okay, “Vizio” receives 37 points ranking third. That means they are through to the final!
