MAD Video Music Awards is a Greek music production and awards ceremony, which allows the public to vote for their favorite artists and video clips.
It’s being successfully organized every June, since 2005, by the Greek music channel Mad Tv. Fans and artists are looking forward every year to attend the show as it is one of the most famous Greek shows. Artists from Greece and Cyprus have the opportunity to perform on stage and present a special performance with a different repertoire, offering the audience a unique and unforgettable experience.
The 7th ceremony of the MAD Video Music Awards was held on Monday, June 14th, with great success. Just like every year, many Greek & Cypriot Eurovision artists won awards and did excellent shows!
- Sakis Rouvas (Greece 2004, 2009 and 2006′s host) was the big winner of the night as he managed to win 4 awards:
-Best Pop Video (for his song “Spase to chrono”)
-Fashion Icon in a video clip (for his song “Spase to chrono”)
-Best Duet in a video clip (for his duet with Tamta in the song “Tharos i alithia”)
-Male Artist of the year - Helena Paparizou (Greece 2001 and winner of the Eurovision 2005 for Greece) won two awards:
-Sexy Video Clip of the year (for her song “An isoun agapi”)
-Video Clip of the year (for her song “Thame alios”)
- she was also nominee in the categories “Female Artist of the year” which was awared to Despina Vandi and “Best Pop Video” which finally had been won by Sakis Rouvas! - Mihalis Hadjiyannis (Cyprus 1998) was awarded as “Male Artist of the year”
- The band Melises (Greek National Final 2010) won 2 awards :
-Best Directed Video (for thei song “Krifa”)
-Best New Artist
- they were also nominee for the Best Pop Video. - Tamta (Greek National Final 2007) won together with Sakis Rouvas the award for the best duet in a video for their hit “Tharos i alithia” while she was also nominee in 2 categories : “Female Artist of the year” and “Fashion Icon in a video Clip”.
- Anna Vissi (Greece 1980, 2006, Cyprus 1982) was nominee in two categories : “Female Artist of the year” and “Best Line Award”
- Kostas Martakis (Greek National Final 2008) was nominee in the categories “Best Pop Video”, “Male artist of the year”, “Video Clip of the year” and “Sexy Video Clip of the year”.
Finally, Evridiki (Cyprus 1992, 1994, 2007) was nominee together with Dimitris Korgialas (Cyprus 2007) in the category “Best Duet in a video clip”,
Apart from the awards, many of the Eurovision stars did an excellent show on stage. Helena Paparizou opened the show singing “Dancing without music”. Kostas Martakis performed on stage alongside the band “Vegas” while Sakis Rouvas presented his brand new song “Emena thes”. Eleni Fureira (Greek National Final 2010) performed together with the famous Moldovian singer Dan Balan the greek version of the song “Chica Bomb”. One of the best French singers, Gregoire was on stage with Katerina Avgoustakis (Greek National Final 2010…almost!) and they performed the song “Toi + Moi”. Tamta sang the song “Egoista” in Greek together with singer Isais Matiaba while Helena Paparizou was on stage once again alongside with the famous Greek male band Onirama to sing the famous song “Together Forever”. Melises performed on stage with the famous Greek singer Mironas Stratis. The actress, model and show presenter, Zeta Makripoulia – who was the commentator for the Greece at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest – when she performed a song on stage together with the famous Greek band Stavento. Kalomira (Greece 2008) was on stage with the American rapper and producer Fatman Scoop in order to present her new track “Please don’t break my heart” which is already a hit while the last performance was by Mihalis Hadjiyannis who presented his new song, named “To kalokeri mou” (= “My summer”).
