Romania: National final on New Year’s Eve

After reaching number 3 in Oslo, Romania is looking forward for the contest in Germany, where they want to be at least as good as in Oslo. The national final where the Romanian Eurovision participant will be selected is going to be held in the “longest night of the year” – New Year’s Eve!

As TVR reported, “the best songs and the best vocals” of Romania will take part in this national final, where one of them will win the right to represent Romania in Germany.

“Selectia Nationala will be a high level contest, and like some other European countries, on January 1st we will know who will sing for Romania in Eurovision 2011”, was reported in TVR, the Romanian national broadcaster.

TVR will make a list of possible participants again, just like they did last year, so the composers can choose the singer from that list. The autors can send in their songs starting today, until November 5th. The entry fee costs 150 Lei, which will be used for organising the national final.

A preselection will be organised on the 9th and 10th of November, where a jury made of 11-15 professionals will vote for the entered songs, and choose the songs which will take part in the national final (a total of minimum 12, and maximum 17 songs). The selected songs will be put online on 15th of November, so that people can listen to them online.

The winner of the national final will be chosen by a mix of 50% televoting and 50% professional jury (made of an odd number of professionals, minimum 11). In a case of a tie, the winner will be the song which got more points from televoting!
