The Netherlands: Decision to be taken any moment

One of these days, The Netherlands will decide on its performer for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. Whether the name will already be released, is not yet known, but ESC Daily took the liberty of going to the AVROTROS office where negotiations are going on as we speak!

The NetherlandsĀ is taking Eurovision seriously again. The strategy of choosing their act early on in the season, started already in 2015, when the Dutch song “Walk Along” was released already in December. However, analyzes ESC Daily’s chief editor Steef van Gorkum, ‘all the other details were only decided upon the last moment. They wanted to learn from their mistakes and so the next season, Douwe Bob only presented his song when all details were ready.’

The name most often mentioned, according to Van Gorkum, is girl group O’G3NE. The three sisters represented The Netherlands already at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 and after that, they also won The Voice of Holland. ‘They have a lot of experience in music competitions already,’ says Van Gorkum.

‘But Caro Emerald is also a serious option. Her song “A Night Like This” topped the charts in several European countries and she said on Dutch national radio that she is interested in going.’
