Norway: Record amount of entries for MGP 2018

Almost 1200 songs have been submitted to Melodi Grand Prix 2018, the Norwegian preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. This is a record amount, since it is almost 200 more than on the previous edition.

Over the last three years, the Norwegian selection process has seen an increasing number of interested artists and composers. After the top-10 result in Kiev by Jowst (pictured above), the interest has grown even more.

International composers welcome

The Norwegian broadcaster NRK has used the MGP-format to choose the Norwegian representative for the Eurovision Song Contest up to 55 times. Artists and composers from all over the world are welcome to submit an entry. However, the NRK encourages Norwegian songwriters to participate.

During the next few weeks, NRK will select the ten best artists and compositions. There is a pile of 1200 submitted entries, all trying to compete in the competition. The grand finale of the Melodi Grand Prix will take place in Spektrum, Oslo in March 2018.
