NRK, the Norwegian national broadcaster, has announced the next act that will take part in Melodi Grand Prix 2012.
The latest MGP act to be announced, new group United, features famous Norwegian soprano singer Benedicte Adrian, who first took part in the contest in 1984. “It’s nice to be back and also do something totally different. I do not go back to the old times and music, as my adventure continues in a new direction”, says Benedicte Adrian to NRK.no.
United is made up of Benedicte Adrian, rapper Sirius and singer Haji. Their entry is titled “Little Bobbi” and has been created by a Norwegian, Swedish and Danish team. The song is described as a Middle Eastern influenced pop song including elements of hip hop music and dubstep music.
The United become the 17th confirmed act for the upcoming MGP after the announcements of the Håvard Lothe Band, Lise Karlsnes, The Carburetors, Lisa Stokke, The Canoes, duo Yaseen Asher and Julie Maria Dahl, Reidun Sæther, Rudi Myntevik, Kim André Rysstad, Marthe Valle, Monica Johansen, Plumbo, Nora Foss Al-Jabri, Isabel Ødegård, Malin and Irresistible.
Earlier this year Stella Mwangi represented Norway in Eurovision 2011 with ‘Haba Haba’ but was unable to qualify to the Eurovision Song Contest final.
