ESCDaily.com had the pleasure of speaking to one of the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix finalists, Tooji – right after his qualification to the final!
No stranger to the music scene, Tooji was an ex presenter on Norway’s MTV before working with music himself for this year’s Melodi Grand Prix. The team behind his upbeat dance track “Stay” was the same Swedish team who created “Popular” – Sweden’s entry for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. The exotic rhythms present in the song is influenced from his Iranian heritage.
Tooji earned his spot in the final after coming second in the semifinal.
Read what he has to say below!
ESCDaily: Hi Tooji! Congratulations on securing a spot in the final! Are you excited or nervous?
Tooji: I’m just filled with love, and that’s all I’m going to focus on. Meeting all these beautiful people, and feeling so much warmth. Nothing can beat that. I’m just grateful.
ESCDaily: The stage show and effects for “Stay” during the heats was spectacular. Do you plan on vamping it up for the final? Will you be making any changes?
Tooji: That’s a seeecreeeet!
ESCDaily: Many viewers have commented that you are the 2nd Eric Saade or Eric Saade 2.0. What do you think about this?
Tooji: I can’t really see that other than us having the same hair color.
ESCDaily: How will you prepare for Saturday? Will you be having a full on day of rehearsals or a day of relaxation?
Tooji: One day of relaxation, and then just a lot of rehearsals to make it pop!
ESCDaily: Have you listened to the other contenders for the final of the MGP?
