Norway: Ten acts for Melodi Grand Prix

Norway’s preselection Melodi Grand Prix will have ten participants in 2016. Broadcaster NRK revealed this news on monday night. The news suggests that NRK will stick to one Grand Final like in 2015, although no official statement has been made about this.

The MGP desk have recieved around one thousand applications for the next year’s national selection. This is more than 2014 and 2015 managed to receive, and can match the numbers in 2010 (the year after Alexander Rybak).

Norway used a semi-final format from 2006 to 2014, but abandoned it last year in favor of one big final show.

Now the jury has to pick ten out of the 1000 songs that will fight for the Norwegian ticket to Stockholm. The jury consists of Jan-Fredrik Karlsen (MGP’s musical director), Pia Skevik (NRK P1), Marie Komissar (DJ at NRK P3) and Stig Karlsen (Head producer of MGP).
