The Soviet Song Festival in Poland was one of the most popular contests in Eastern Europe, with the last concert taking place back in 1980.

After all this time, Poland decided to resume the festival in 2008 as The Russian Song Festival which is held in Zielona Góra. Polish singers and actors can compete to win gold, silver and bronze samovars. The song contest is also a good opportunity to promote Russian artists, especially those connected with the Eurovision Song Contest.

In 2010 the guest singer was Dima Bilan, the winner of Eurovision Song Contest 2008 plus Russian representative in 2006, who performed his number one hits like “Never let you go” and “Gore Zima”.
In 2011 the Polish broadcaster invited the next Eurovision winner – Alexander Rybak who won Eurovision with his spectacular song “Fairytale”.

During this year’s ceremony the Polish audience will have a chance to see Buranovskiye Babushki (the runner-up of Eurovision 2012) and also Alexey Vorobyov (Eurovision 2011). The hosts of the show are Alina Artz (Russian singer) and Tomasz Kammel (Polish Journalist).

You can watch it now via TVP’s website here.

The representatives that will compete to win a samovar are:
Goya, Magda Steczkowska, Alexandra, Monika Biczysko, Rafał Brzozowski, Marina, Maria Niklińska & Jarosław Witaszczyk, Rezerwat, The Dreamers, Sokół Orkestar, Volver & Szymon Wydra (Carpe Diem).
