Hungary could return to Eurovision next year, and as previously reported, with a different television station. We spoke the Press Department of Duna Television about their participation in the Contest in 2011.

DunaTV was asked by the EBU to broadcast the show this year, and are very proud of that, saying they are more than ready to enter the contest in 2011 in Germany. They cannot confirm their participation in the contest just yet, because they are not full members of the EBU.

However,  DunaTV is happy to negotiate with the EBU about its participation in the contest. If they get an official confirmation by the EBU, saying that they are allowed to take over Eurovision in Hungary, they will most probably organise a national final to select the entry.

DunaTV broadcast all three shows this year with no commercial breaks, as well as showing all three preview shows, “Eurovision – Countdown”, with hungarian subtitles. They also invited some former Hungarian Eurovision participants to take part in their Eurovision shows on both television and radio.

Should DunaTV be accepted into the European Broadcasting Union, and succeed in enter Eurovision, they would bring the country back to the contest for a fourth time after MTV entered from 1994-1998, 2005, and more recently 2007-2009.
