Russia: “Decision between five candidates made in two weeks”

According to the Moscow-based daily newspaper Moskovskij Komsomolets, Russia’s broadcaster Channel One will make their decision about the artist that will take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 within the next two weeks. The broadcaster has a shortlist of five remaining artists that might go to Kiev.

The name that is mentioned most is that of Aleksander Panayotov. He claims in the same article that he has not heard anything from 1TV yet, but if they should approach him, that he will definitely say yes to their proposal.

It is not known on which date exactly the Russians will present their act for Kiev 2017. They will however not publish their song together with the presentation of the artist.

Last year, superstar Sergey Lazarev finished in third place for Russia. His song “You are the only one” won the public televote.
