Now, the song call for Sweden is over! The proccess to submit a song for Melodifestivalen 2013 has finished, with a total of 2.549 songs received, a drop from last year’s 3.485 entries. Besides that, Sweden still holds the record of the most number of songs received during a national selection proccess every year.
Producer Christer Björkman is still very happy with the amount of entries received, and he believes even with the submission total dropping, composers have sent songs with more quality. The winning song of the Melodifestivalen 2013 will represent Sweden, at home in Malmö!
1902 songs have been submited to the regular proccess, and 647, to get the ‘audience wildcard‘, which will be replacing the traditional ‘Webjokern’. From all the entries, a specialized jury will select 15 songs, to take part at the semifinals of the contest, plus the one who wins the ‘audience wildcard‘. On the other hand, the remaining songs will be directly invited, and chosen by the Swedish broadcaster (SVT), whilst Terese Fredenwall, who, was already chosen after winning, ‘Svensktoppen Nästa 2012′, will be assigned a song from the 16 invited by SVT.
