After winning local contest “Svensktoppen nästa”, Swedish artist Terese Fredenwall has won her right to take part in Melodifestivalen next year, the countries’ national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest.
The radio contest, organised by Swedish Radio P4, acts as a qualifying round this year for the most watched show on Swedish television. However, seeing as Eurovision rules state that songs taking part must not be released before September 1st – Fredenwall will take part in Melodifestivalen with a new song, having won “Svensktoppen nästa” with the song “Drop The Fight”.
The 26 year old is happy to be part of the show, although isn’t focusing on possibly taking part in Eurovision yet, saying; “Though I’m looking forward to it, I’m still in the middle of Svensktoppen ‘euphoria’”.
The rest of the artists who will take part in Melodifestivalen are set to be announced by host broadcaster SVT this autumn.
