After rumours concerning the Turkish representative went into overdrive during the past few days, TRT has reacted by revealing their five act ‘wishlist’, which have made it into the last stage of potential selection in Turkey.
TRT ended speculations today with a press release from their music department stating that they have been in contact with a total of 25 acts in order to find their representative for Eurovision 2012.
Only five acts remain in contention and they are;
- Atiye
- Hande Yener
- Şebnem Ferah
- Murat Boz
- Erhan Güleryüz
From that list, Hande Yener and Murat Boz have already signalled they have no interest to represent Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. According to Turkish media agency HaberTürk – Atiye or Şebnem Ferah should be considered the frontrunners to represent Turkey in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Head of TRT’s Music Assembly, Deniz Çakmakoğlu, stated last month that the press conference announcing the Turkish representative is planned to take place in mid-January, most likely on the 15th. Should none of these acts accept an offer, it is possible the announcement will take even longer of the Turkish representative in 2012.
Stay tuned!
