Austria: ÖRF to think very carefully about Eurovision return

Austrian broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk will be giving the idea of returning to next year’s Eurovision some serious thought. Before Germany’s Lena won the weekend’s final, ÖRF’s General director Alexander Wrabetz stated that they would “seriously consider” return to Eurovision if the contest was going to take place in Germany.

Austria withdrew from the contest in 2007, after Eric Papilaya failed to qualify for the final, stating that it had become too political and that some countries were always going to qualify, whilst others were not.

ÖRF has however continued to broadcast the contest, leaving the door open for a potential return.
