2000 and Whatever – Albania

We may not get to see our 2020 favourites take to the stage, but that doesn’t mean we can’t reminisce on our Eurovision favourites. This series is aimed to discover the team’s favourite entries from the 21st century, from 2001 to 2019.

In collaboration with Eurovision Union, we will be reviewing some of their 21st Century favourites, while over on their site, you will find their reviews of our favourites!

Below our reviews, you will find a poll where you can vote for your favourite Eurovision entry from the 21st Century.

Dennis Reviews Anita’s 21st Century Favourite

Eugent Bushpepa – Mall | 11th place, 184 points (Final)

Excellent choice, if I may say! Albania has had great performers at Eurovision, but when it comes to giving a vocal masterclass, Eugent was the master. Right from the first rehearsal to the actual performance at the Eurovision final in 2018, Eugent Bushpepa showed himself to be a professional class artist. He delivered every time around.

The song was my favourite in FiK that season, but it really grew on me during the two weeks in Lisbon, becoming even one of my favourite songs at Eurovision in 2018.

Brandon Reviews Joshua’s 21st Century Favourite

Eugent Bushpepa – Mall | 11th place, 184 points (Final)

My favourite male vocalist Albania has ever sent. When he won Fik, I admittedly felt a bit “meh” about his entry – particularly due to the cramped one-room music video. But when that man is on-stage he DELIVERS. Every time I hear him live, he’d give me goose-bumps just from his sheer range and talent. Incredible song and should’ve gotten to the top ten that year by far.
