We may not get to see our 2020 favourites take to the stage, but that doesn’t mean we can’t reminisce on our Eurovision favourites. This series is aimed to discover the team’s favourite entries from the 21st century, from 2001 to 2019.
In collaboration with Eurovision Union, we will be reviewing some of their 21st Century favourites, while over on their site, you will find their reviews of our favourites!
Below our reviews, you will find a poll where you can vote for your favourite Eurovision entry from the 21st Century.

Dennis Reviews Anita’s 21st Century Favourite
Dragonfly ft. Dado Topić – Vjerujem u ljubav | 16th place, 54 points (Semi-Final)
This is an interesting pick. Especially because Croatia finished their streak of qualifications for the final with this song: their first non-qualifier. A 16th place in the large monster semi of 2007 was not enough for them, and even though I can appreciate the instrumentation and build-up of the song, love the end, it just was not good enough for a music competition. This song fails to make a lasting first impression. I can understand, since I also heard it more often in the years that came, that this is an entry that grows on you.
Brandon Reviews Joshua’s 21st Century Favourite
Jacques Houdek – My Friend | 13th place, 128 points (Final)
The first song that me and Josh are in agreement with. I love Croatia’s entries as a whole but I know I’m in a minority for most of my preferred entries so far this century. This had trainwreck written all over it, but I was in love and was mesmerised when it all came together at Eurovision. It’s pure camp but by doing so it truly brought the whole performance alive on-stage. Love it!
