2000 and Whatever – Georgia

We may not get to see our 2020 favourites take to the stage, but that doesn’t mean we can’t reminisce on our Eurovision favourites. This series is aimed to discover the team’s favourite entries from the 21st century, from 2001 to 2019.

In collaboration with Eurovision Union, we will be reviewing some of their 21st Century favourites, while over on their site, you will find their reviews of our favourites!

Below our reviews, you will find a poll where you can vote for your favourite Eurovision entry from the 21st Century.

Georgia

Dennis Reviews Anita’s 21st Century Favourite

Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz – Midnight Gold | 20th place, 104 points (Final)

Great alternative song by Georgia, and they have come up with some daring songs in recent years. Sometimes with success, sometimes without. ‘Midnight Gold’ made it to the final and for everyone who saw the live performance, it was obvious. Based on the song, there were doubts with the bookmakers. But the cool staging and directing by Sascha Jean-Baptiste made the song stand out from the pack. So overall, the combination of an alternative song, matching with the looks of the group and the visual masterpieces in the live performance, make it one of the best Georgian entries to date.

Brandon Reviews Joshua’s 21st Century Favourite

Nina Sublatti – Warrior | 11th place, 51 points (Final)

Unfortunately, I was on the Malta #TeamWarrior bandwagon during this year, but I really like this song. Performance was electrifying and Nina was a character! Find it a bit forgettable now, but this was one of Georgia’s finest songs of the 2010’s.
