2000 and Whatever – Monaco

We may not get to see our 2020 favourites take to the stage, but that doesn’t mean we can’t reminisce on our Eurovision favourites. This series is aimed to discover the team’s favourite entries from the 21st century, from 2001 to 2019.

In collaboration with Eurovision Union, we will be reviewing some of their 21st Century favourites, while over on their site, you will find their reviews of our favourites!

Below our reviews, you will find a poll where you can vote for your favourite Eurovision entry from the 21st Century.

Monaco

Dennis Reviews Anita’s 21st Century Favourite

Maryon – Notre Planète | 19th place, 10 points (Semi-Final)

I was happy when Monaco made their comeback in 2004, but I am sad to say that I was disappointed with what they came up with in the three years they were back. All songs were weak, including Prenez soin de notre planète. The opening of the song, coming up in a dress with a lot of small lights, is the highlight of the act. Overall a weak performance of a weak unimpressive pop song with a standard beat. Not my cup of tea.

Brandon Reviews Joshua’s 21st Century Favourite

Lisa Darly – Tout de moi | 24th place, 22 points (Semi-Final)

Why did this song not do better than it did! Such an injustice and so underrated. Sure, it’s pure disney realness but Lise was gorgeous with a voice to match. Perhaps a bit too mid-tempo but those orchestral elements were stunning, I wonder if Monaco would’ve stayed if this had done better…
