2000 and Whatever – Poland

We may not get to see our 2020 favourites take to the stage, but that doesn’t mean we can’t reminisce on our Eurovision favourites. This series is aimed to discover the team’s favourite entries from the 21st century, from 2001 to 2019.

In collaboration with Eurovision Union, we will be reviewing some of their 21st Century favourites, while over on their site, you will find their reviews of our favourites!

Below our reviews, you will find a poll where you can vote for your favourite Eurovision entry from the 21st Century.

Poland

Dennis Reviews Anita’s 21st Century Favourite

Donatan & Cleo – My Słowianie – We Are Slavic | 14th place, 62 points (Final)

This is iconic. The act with the washing girls is just so funny. It got a bit lost on a lot of people, but it is actually a mockery of how Western Europe is looking at the east. Apart from the act, I also like the fact that Poland dared to send something different and contemporary, outside of Eurovision, in 2014. I like that a lot.

Brandon Reviews Joshua’s 21st Century Favourite

Michał Szpak – Color Of Your Life | 8th place, 229 points (Final)

Was very close to choosing this song myself. I’ll admit I was shocked how well this did at Eurovision; especially with the televotes but this song has aged quite well onto my music playlist. He is a character and a half and he could make anything sound immense. The song is epic, those belts are everything and as disappointed as I was Margaret wasn’t chosen, Michal was a superb entry also!
