Tonight Zoe was selected as the Austrian entry through the show “Wer singt für Österreich?” at the ORF Centre in Vienna. Ten acts were competing tonight and hoping to wave the Austrian flag in Stockholm this May. Zoe’s chanson “Loin d’Ici” was selected over two rounds of voting.
Zoe was selected tonight to represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with her song “Loin d’ici”. After the combined results of the public and expert jury voting Elly V and Zoe got the most points and proceeded to the second round where the winner was selected exclusively by public voting. That means that Zoe will wave the Austrian flag in the Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm with a French song. In 2015 she already participated in the Austrian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest with her French song “Quel filou”.
The jury consisted of Conchita Wurst, singer and actress Madita, Julie Frost who wrote Germany’s ESC 2010 winning song “Satellite” and several press members whose votes were aggregated. The show was hosted by Alice Tumler, one of the presenters of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015, and the Austrian ESC commentator Andi Knoll.
