Acoustic Planet wins, Kállay-Saunders saved by televoting

Surprising newcomers Acoustic Planet have won the first semi final of A Dal in Hungary. Rap group The Middletonz, featuring András Kállay-Saunders, qualified at the last moment when the televoters saved them.

Acoustic Planet was particularly popular with the Hungarian jury, who also favored runner-up Petruska. Both scored high with the app vote, too, which makes them dangerous outsiders for the A Dal final to be held in two weeks.

Rap song by Kállay-Saunders

Kállay-Saunders (5th in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen) gave a strong performance of his song “Roses”. Together with his band The Middletonz, he scored the highest app vote of the contest so far. However, the professional jurors were not convinced. This may hurt his chances in the Grand Final, when support of both juries is necessary to be able to win.
