Additional costs for renovation B&W Hallerne

Due to contingencies during the renovation of the Eurovision 2014 venue in the Refshaleøen the organisation of this years contest have been faced with additional costs of 13 million Danish Krone. The Capital Region and the City of Copenhagen is responsible for the preparation of the B & W Hallerne and the additional costs.

It is confirmed that Copenhagen has indeed allocated 13 mln DKK extra for unforeseen expenses for the event. Redevelopment of B & W Hallerne on Refshaleøen in Copenhagen has proved to be more challenging than on the first thought, where among other things, the removal of the three main pillars have called for a stronger technical solution than was budgeted.

Rumours that broadcaster DR had to come up with extra fundings to fix the problems were published in a local Danish newspaper on Wednesday. The Danish public broadcaster and the European Broadcasting Union have denied this towards ESC Daily. The story that DR has threatened to move the contest from Copenhagen to Herning has also been denied.
