Ana Soklič has won EMA 2020 and will sing power-ballad, “Voda” (ENG: Water) in Rotterdam for Slovenia at Eurovision 2020.
Runner-up was Lina Kuduzović, who sang “Man Like U” and previously represented Slovenia at Junior Eurovision back in 2015 coming third in JESC. This was Slovenia’s best result in any Eurovision event to date. Kuduzovic was the fan-favourite to win EMA 2020 tonight, however Ana Soklic appealed to both jurors and the public in currently, undisclosed voting.
How EMA Final 2020 happened
Slovenia’s national selection, EMA 2020 concluded tonight after a three-panel jury selected the top two followed by the Slovenian public voting for the winner.
This year saw the return of quite a few, Eurovision-connected Slovene artists. Bozidar Wolfand Wolf previously competed in the 1986 Yugoslav final and was also a backing singer for Yugoslavia at Eurovision 1984. Lina Kuduzović represented Slovenia in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015, finishing third while Tinkara Kovač represented Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with “Round and Round”.
