Armenia: Top twelve artists of Depi Evratesil are known

This weekend, the Armenian national selection show Depi Evratesil goes into the final stages with only twelve artists left. One of them is going to represent Armenia at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.

After two rounds of heated battle between participants the third round of the contest has come to the end. The six judges have faced another difficult situation of decision making, as a result of which only the top twelve participants continue the battle in the upcoming fourth round. It has not yet been made public how the rest of the selection process will now continue.

Among the above mentioned participants are predominantly new faces and young talents. Most of the songs performed are covers. Alexander Plato and Gevorg Harutyunyan wrote the performed songs themselves, while Opera Viva performs a song written specifically for this occassion by their judge Essaï.

Some of the participants have tried X-factor and other talent shows before; not only in Armenia but also in Russia and Ukraine. Artsvik participated in The Voice of Russia, where coach Dima Bilan decided not to turn around his chair for her. Hasmik Siroyan was coached by Ani Lorak during Season 4 of The Voice of Ukraine. In this video you can see Ani Lorak arguing with Sergey Lazarev over which team Hasmik should choose. Hasmik was eventually eliminated in the Knock Out-round just before the liveshows.

Details about Depi Evratesil

Armenia is selecting their Eurovision representative through this brand new project for the first time. Whereas the song for the artist will be announced later. Depi Evratesil is a three-month-long artist selection show consisting of four rounds.

The first round was auditions stage were from hundreds of participants only 37 made it to the next round. At the following round called “Judges Selection Stage” only 24 participants could make it to the teams of six judges with only four artists in each team. Later on, during the third round “One of Two” two weeks in a row one of two artists from each juror team had to leave the contest. As a result, from 24 selected artists only 12 got the chance to continue the battle in the upcoming fourth round.

Former JESC representatives Monika Manucharova (2008) and David Paronikyan (2012) tried to represent their country at the adult contest but could not make it through the first round of auditions. Kristina Mangasaryan who was one of the backing vocalists of Iveta Mukuchyan at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, qualified until the third round and was included in team Iveta. However, later on she failed to make it to the list of top twelve to compete at the next round.

depi-evratesilAll six judges of the contest are former Eurovision participants coming together to make up the right decision about their successor. The jury members are Iveta Mukuchyan (2016), Aram MP3 (2015), Hayko (2007), Essai Altounian (2015), Anush Arshakyan (2009) and Inga Arshakyan (2009, 2015). The contest is hosted by Gohar Gasparyan.
