Australia will probably come back to the Eurovision Song Contest. ESC Daily’s chief editor Steef van Gorkum says in our Monthly Podcast that he doesn’t think it will happen in 2016. “But probably sooner than later.”
“I think it would be very tough for the EBU to sell that news of them coming after they have been saying so many times that it is a one time thing,” says Van Gorkum in our podcast with Dennis van Eersel. But when many countries would withdraw from the contest, situation might change for the EBU. “The situation would have to be very bad for them to be able to sell that Australia will be coming back.”
“Although I don’t think it will be a one-time thing like they have been saying, SBS says they will do everything to get back as soon as possible. I don’t think it will happen this year, but probably sooner than later,” adds our chief editor.
