After thirty years of broadcasting, more than ten years of immense popularity and several years of longing – tonight it is time for the real thing. Australia will take part in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna.
ESC Daily was in Vienna over the last two weeks, following all the Eurovision news. Of course we paid specific attention to our very own entry, Guy Sebastian! He did not give one-on-one interviews during the two weeks of the contest, but we spoke to him in Amsterdam and then followed him at press conferences and rehearsals.
Now that Australia is shaking from excitement, we gathered all the footage from Guy from the past two weeks in this article. Click on the links and follow his road to the Eurovision final in Vienna!
Guy Sebastian came from the Planetshakers to Idols, to a huge hit in the USA, and now the Grand Final of Eurovision. Who knows what he can achieve there tonight?
In March, it was announced that Guy Sebastian would represent Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest. He immediately took the opportunity to thank Europe for inviting Australia into the contest:
Guy then went on to Amsterdam to participate in Eurovision in Concert. He spoke with ESC Daily there, on Saturday April 18th:
On Sunday May 17th, Guy started his Eurovision journey with his first rehearsal on the big Eurovision stage. Watch his backstage preparation by clicking HERE. Guy showcased great vocals in the first runthrough and then saved his voice throughout the others, ending his stage time with the phrase “Let’s get the hell out of here!”
After the rehearsal, Guy spoke to the press in his first press conference. We taped it (WATCH HERE), and spoke to Head of Delegation Paul Clarke afterwards about how badly Australia wants to take part again:
After being interviewed in the first semi final, Guy went on stage again on Wednesday May 20th. His press conference afterwards can be seen below:
Right now, Guy is getting ready for the final. And with him, Australia is setting their alarms to get ready for this historic event! We from ESC Daily wish him the best of luck, and we hope you will enjoy Europe’s favorite tv-show as much as we will – no matter which country you are from.
