Austria: The Makemakes to represent the host nation in Vienna

The Makemakes will be the successor to Conchita Wurst, having just won Wer singt Für Österreich? with the song I Am Yours. Being the host nation, the pressure on broadcaster ORF for the decision was high and turned out a great pool of talent to compete in the selection process. Now, sights are set on Vienna!

From 20 shortlisted contestants, only 6 were chosen to take part in the live heats. The band Makemakes ended up winning this final – you can watch their entry below:

The voting this evening was 50/50 – a panel of jury members from 10 different countries decided upon 2 superfinalists and the Austrian public chose their champion from there. In the end the decision came down between The Makemakes and Dawa.

So now, to no surprise, The Makemakes will sing for Austria in the grand finale of the 60th Eurovision Song Contest on 23rd May.
