The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has received an official letter from the Azerbaijani Prime Minister guaranteeing safety and security plus cooperation on other policies for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.
Additionally, a full commitment was given to a visa policy simplification process for the thousands of foreign guests and attendees that plan to travel to Azerbaijan next May. Freedom of expression and assembly in accordance with the European Convention of Human Rights will be granted, for all of the delegates, crew, press and fans attending the contest next May.
Prime Minister Artur Rasi-zedeh stated;
“The Azerbaijani government conceives the organisation of the Eurovision Song Contest as a great responsibility and is ready to take all necessary measures for that. Every citizen of Azerbaijan is proud that our country won the contest in 2011 and is honoured to host the next contest in Baku,” he added in his writing.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2012 will be hosted in Baku, Azerbaijan on the 22nd, 24th and 26th of May 2012.
