Belgium will take part in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with an internally selected candidate. Flemish broadcaster VRT has confirmed this news to ESCDaily’s partner website Songfestival.be.
Peter Van de Veire, commentator for VRT at this year’s Eurovision and host of Eurosong editions in 2012, 2014 and 2016, stated:
“We closely looked at the time and effort we put into coaching Laura Tesoro last year after she won Eurosong, and for next year, we want to focus on one artist and one song.”
Broadcasters take turns
More details about the Belgian entrant for 2018 are expected later this year. Belgium takes part in Eurovision with two separate broadcasters, one Flemish and one Walloon broadcaster, who take turns. This year the Walloon broadcaster selected Blanche with the song “City Lights”. She will take part in semi final 1 tonight.
