Hungary and Montenegro have officially withdrawn from the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. Still, there will be 41 countries that take part in Rotterdam, as Bulgaria and Ukraine make their comeback in the contest.
After a one year break due to financial issues, Bulgarian broadcaster BNT has confirmed that the nation returns to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2020. BNT have signed the agreement and rule book needed to participate.
Bulgaria will not take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. The broadcaster BNT is basing its decision on financial reasons, “because the costs of the project far exceed the financial capacity of BNT according to the Management of the broadcaster”.
“Our song is about love. It’s a very warm song,” Equinox singer Trey Campbell said at the press conference. “So why do you use such a dark, cold staging?” Team ESCDaily asked in response.
The first live performance of ‘Bones’, the song that Equinox will perform for Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, has received a warm reception. However, to be really successful in Lisbon, they should stage the group like a natural harmonic group
This Sunday evening, Bulgaria finally revealed their Eurovision act for the upcoming contest in Lisbon. It is Equinox with the song ‘Bones’.
Bulgarian broadcaster BNT has provided more details towards their strategy to be successful again at the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2018, they are looking for “a delicate mixture of а very good performer, interesting voice, the right song and an attractive visual presentation.”
It hardly comes as a surprise, but Bulgarian broadcaster BNT will once again pick their artist for the Eurovision Song Contest internal. They will handpick their act for Lisbon.
It is not sure whether Bulgaria is able to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest and Junior Eurovision Song Contest in the near future. The state broadcaster BNT has published their uncertainty on Twitter this Thursday morning.
