Ukrainian broadcasters STB and UA:PBC have announced that they will continue with their national final format Vidbir to select their Eurovision act in 2019.
The prop in the Ukranian performance is not a coffin, but a piano. Singer Mélovin said this at his press conference. During the rehearsal, we could see Mélovin step out of the prop as if he rises from the dead.
After 2 semi finals, and a spectacular grand final, the Ukrainian jury and public have decided that Melovin will represent Ukraine in Lisbon.
The conclusion of Vidbir takes place in Ukraine tonight. There seem to be two major contenders: Mélovin and Tayanna, who finished in third and second place last year in Ukraine.

Tayanna has qualified for the national final of Vidbir in Ukraine. The runner-up of the final in Ukraine of 2017 was one of the three qualifiers of the second semi final with her song ‘Lelya’.
Last Saturday saw the first of 2 Vidbir semi finals take place in Ukraine. With one new judge and some returning acts, it certainly did not disappoint. Again STB broadcast the show in partnership with the national broadcaster UA:PBC.
Vidbir 2018 has started and Pur:Pur, finalist in 2016, has already been eliminated. Laud, The Erised and Vilna have reached the final of the preselection in Ukraine for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018.
