Copenhagen 2014: Jessica Mauboy is Australia’s Interval Act

It is a well known fact that Australians are huge fans of the Eurovision Song Contest and this year event organizers have announced that they will dedicate the interval act of the second semi final to the Australian TV audience. A momentous occasion for the Australian audience will see singer and actress Jessica Mauboy take to the Eurovision stage.

Jessica Mauboy is an Australian singer and actress who has been specially chosen by Australian TV broadcasters to perform during the interval act of the second semi final of Eurovision 2014. An award winning artist, she rose to fame in 2006 as a contestant on Australian Idol, where she finished as runner up. Since then she has gone on to dominate the Australian music industry with a string of hit singles and albums, collaborating with artists including Flo Rida, Jay Sean and Snoop Dogg.

Australian broadcaster SBS has confirmed that Jessica’s performance will be an original song that will be written specifically for the Eurovision Song Contest. The aim of the broadcaster is reported to be to show off a new and vibrant side of Australian music on a world stage and bring that energy to Eurovision. What do you think of DR’s decision to allow Australia to be a part of Eurovision this year?

  1. As some european countries prefere to stay home for “economic reasons” (they juste have to send 1 singer if it’s really a financial problem…) so let’s fill the remaining places with Australia, South Africa or Brazil if you want. so what. If one of them win, we all go to Sydney LOL
