Cyprus: Despina Olympiou internally selected in 2013

ESCDaily.com has been informed that Despina Olympiou will be representing Cyprus in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest to be hosted this May in Malmö.

Despina Olympiou was born in Limassol, Cyprus and to date has had several hits in her native country Cyprus and the Greek music industry. Her single alongside ex-lover Mixalis Xatizigiannis titled “O Paradeisos De Ftiaxtike Gia Mas” received the award for “Duet of The Year” at Greece’s MAD Video Music Awards in 2008. Other hits by Olympiou include “Vale Mousiki”, “Pes To Dynata”, “Thimamai Osa Eixes Pei” and another duet with Hatzigiannis titled “Na ‘soun Allios”.

As far as ESCDaily.com have been informed, Andreas Giorgallis will be in charge of composing the entry, who was behind Cyprus’ ninth placed entry back in 1996, “Mono Gia Mas” performed by Constantinos Christoforou. The lyrics will reportedly be written by Zinonas Zintilis (ESC 1998 lyricist and National Finals in 1999 & 2010).
