Czech Republic makes a surprise comeback to the contest

After being absent from the Eurovision Song Contest the last five years, Czech Republic is making their return to the contest in 2015. The broadcasters has decided to have an internal selection where an expert jury picks their entry. The jury will be offered five songs that are commissioned directly from well-known composers.

Czech Republic first took part in the world’s biggest music event only in 2007 when they joined in with Kabát’s Malá Dáma. Unfortunately, they failed to qualify for the Grand Final at their first attempt, and the two attempts to follow.

“Czech Television is happy to be back again in that wonderful competition. After three entries in the previous years we hope to offer Europe a top quality Czech song.” says Marketa Stinglova, Manager of International Content Project Center at Czech Television.

“We are very excited to have Czech Republic return to the Eurovision Song Contest after 5 years of absence, making the Eurovision Family even more complete for the 60th anniversary edition.” says Jon Ola Sand, Executive Producer of the contest on behalf of the EBU.
