Team ESCDaily looks back at the first semi final and the results of it. In what we thought could be a potential minefield like the first semi finals of 2011 and 2013, the results were pretty much in line with what many people predicted. There were no true surprise qualifiers or eliminations in the well produced first semi final of Eurovision 2021.
Croatia was in the top-10 with each bookmaker, but failed to qualify. Perhaps that was the biggest surprise of the night. Romania was the second country that some bookies saw as a qualifier, but Roxen also missed out. Belgium and Israel were the two borderline qualifiers to take their chance and we will see them again on Saturday.
For Australia this years marks the first time they will not be in a Eurovision final since 2015. We talk about their elimination as well in this podcast.
