Danish Broadcasting Cooperation can now unveil the dress that Emmelie de Forest will wear in the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö in two weeks.

It is a cream-colored dress from organic, unbleached cotton created by the Danish designer Anja Elefteria.

We have chosen the dress in a style that really suits Emmelie. We did not want a dress decorated with a lot of sequins or a too feminine dress. The goal was instead to preserve something of Emmelie´s youthfulness and her little more hidden sensuality, says Anja Elefteria.

The dress, which was chosen by Emmelie de Forest herself and songwriter and ‘Dress Minister’ Lise Cabble, was originally a basic model that the Danish / Greek designer has custom-made especially for the young singer.

It was important for me to get into the life of Emmelie and see how she moves. As humans we have different expressions and we move differently. In Emmelie, I see a girl who definitely knows what she wants.

Anja Elefteria, who particularly is known for designing wedding dresses, usually prefers very limited details. Therefore, Emmelie’s dress is not flashy like some Eurovision dresses usually are. But there has been room for fine details.

The dress is twisted and braided to create a natural look. We applied some black hematite to give the dress a little edge, says Anja Elefteria.

And yes, the dress is the one that Emmelie also wears on the cover of her debut album, ‘Only Teardrops’, released on Monday May 6th. Thus, the proud designer can see one of her creations on both an album cover and soon on the TV screen in front of 125 million TV viewers worldwide.

I am proud, that’s obvious. My children are even more proud and they are looking very much forward to seeing the dress and Emmelie on TV. I am quite sure that Emmelie will get very far in the competition.
