Düsseldorf, wir sind hier!

Welcome one and all to Düsseldorf, and the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. Hopefully you will have noticed our brand new layout designed especially for this year’s contest! We hope that the homepage will give you everything you want and more over the next fortnight. Dan has worked flat out on it, so a massive credit to him for what you see.

This is escdaily.com’s second live Eurovision, and we’re hoping to build on the good stuff from last year whilst adding some extra special bits. Once again we’re going to have a webcam streaming live for over 9 hours each day in the press centre , and whilst we are not allowed to show you the rehearsals live, you’ll almost certainly be able to hear whats going on and experience the hype from the press working area  – but fear not! we will have videos of each country rehearsing online quickly after they finish. To coincide with the launch of our coverage and the return of the live stream, they’ll be a live video chat here at 14:00 today direct from the press centre, so do drop by!

All going to plan we’ll also have much more coverage of the press conferences this year so you can get a much better feel of what the artists are like off the stage as well as on. If you have any ideas on how we can expand our coverage feel free to leave us a comment or use the contact link above.

So, all that remains to say is hopefully you’ll be visiting us several times a day during this year’s ‘Eurovision Fortnight’. From my part, a huge set of advanced thank you’s to all of our editors who will be working our here in Germany on this year’s contest. It’s going to be a hectic couple of weeks, but in around 15 days time we’ll know which country will be hosting next year.

There are 86 individual rehearsals this year, so get comfy!
