EBU gives Covid update: One positive test within the Polish delegation

Poland Rafal Eurovision 2021
RAFAŁ, Poland, Second Rehearsal, Rotterdam Ahoy, 13 May 2021 — EBU / ANDRES PUTTING

One person with the Polish delegation has tested positive during the scheduled routine Covid-19 testing procedures. It is not Rafal or one of the backing dancers which we will see on stage next week. The EBU confirms this news in an update on Saturday afternoon, looking back on the first week of rehearsals.

Eurovision preparations began early April with the build-up of the stage and the stand-in rehearsals. Over the past six weeks, more than 15.000 Covid tests took place in Rotterdam. Only ten of them came back with a positive result.

Nine of those positive tests were from people that visited Ahoy for the first time; meaning they were never inside the bubble. This positive test on Saturday was the first within the Eurovision bubble all week.

As a result of this, the Polish delegation will not attend the Turqoise Carpet event on Sunday the 16th of May. Everyone in the Polish delegation has gone into quarantaine and will take a PCR-test today.
